Passing of Brother Bluhm
Mr. Leland (Lee) Kenneth Bluhm, 88 of Union City, Georgia transcended this earthly life and flew into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was born on February 25, 1932 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Martha Bluhm both now deceased.
Mr. Bluhm went through school in Paynesville, Minnesota and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1950. After high school, he served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a fun-filled highly energetic world traveler who enjoyed a variety of activities. In early adulthood, he could be seen buzzing through the fields as he flew a crop dusting plane in Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, and Mississippi. His love of planes and travel was apparent, and he moved to Miami, Florida and found work in various airlines and civic organizations before becoming employed with Singapore Airlines. He soon transferred to Atlanta, Georgia in 1970. Lee traveled extensively for business and pleasure while employed with Singapore Airlines. Mr. Bluhm was an active member of Skal International and served as its Atlanta President in 1978.
Lee’s love of traveling carried over into his love of entertaining friends and family. When entertaining, he would surprise guests with his freshly cooked gourmet dishes from around the world. Not only was he skilled in cooking, but he was also a talented musician who played several instruments and had a love of singing. He sang in quartet groups and with his church choir at Southwest Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Donna Mae Barrett Bluhm; and his siblings, Duane Bluhm and Richard Bluhm, of Minnesota.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Wayne) Ledford, Tyrone, Georgia; his son, Kevin Bluhm, Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Cristin Pryor, Kira (Jeremy) O’Pry, Michael (Tabbi) Carver, and Brooke Bluhm; eleven great grandchildren Kelsey, Ryan, Taylor, Taryn, Ashlyn, Hope, Ethan, Keelin, Emily, Aryn, and Ruby; and five great-great grandchildren, Mason, Claire, Addison, Skarlette, and Cadie.
The family will receive friends at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, Georgia from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
A private graveside service, with military honors, will be held for the family at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, Georgia on Friday.
